Especially ThisWeekInStartups.com mentioned earlier and <a title=\"Andrew Warner's Mixergy.com\" href=\"http:\/\/mixergy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Warner&#8217;s Mixergy.com<\/a>. I&#8217;ve pretty much spent the last month going over every one of Andrew&#8217;s podcasts.  It&#8217;s surprising how many startups miss the boat on domains and how that can impact marketing efforts. I think this clip from an <a title=\"siamak-taghaddos-interview\" href=\"http:\/\/mixergy.com\/siamak-taghaddos-interview\/\">interview Andrew did<\/a> with <a title=\"Grasshopper.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grasshopper.com\" target=\"_blank\">Grasshopper.com<\/a> founder Siamak Taghaddos pretty much sums up what I hear over and over again.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wpaudio\" title=\"Click the arrow to listen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domainnoob.com\/media\/Mixergy-Andrew-Warner-Grasshopper-Siamak-Taghaddos.mp3\">Siamak Taghaddos<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Seems pretty obvious, right? But here&#8217;s an example (from <a title=\"Noah Kagan on Mixergy\" href=\"http:\/\/mixergy.com\/gambit-noah-kagan\/\" target=\"_blank\">another excellent Mixergy interview<\/a>) of what so often happens.<br \/>\n<a class=\"wpaudio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domainnoob.com\/media\/Noah-Kagan-GetGambit-Andrew-Warner-Mixergy.mp3\">Noah Kagan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Matt (<a title=\"Wordpress.org\" href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">WordPress<\/a> \/ <a title=\"Matt Mullenweg Homepage\" href=\"http:\/\/www.ma.tt\" target=\"_blank\">www.Ma.tt<\/a>) had to get it. Would like to know more about that story.<br \/>\n<a class=\"wpaudio\" title=\"Click the arrow to listen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domainnoob.com\/media\/mixergy-Matt-Mullenweg-domains.mp3\">Matt Mullenweg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Otis (of <a title=\"GoodReads.com\" href=\"http:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Goodreads.com<\/a>) definitely gets it. Exactly, &#8220;a good domain will give you a 30% extra chance of success&#8221;.<br \/>\n<a class=\"wpaudio\" title=\"Click the arrow to listen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.domainnoob.com\/media\/Mixergy-Goodreads-Otis-Chandler-domains.mp3\">Otis Chandler<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sure, domain names can be expensive. But the trouble is, the larger you grow your company, the more you<br \/>\nrun the risk that someone is going to hold that domain name hostage (and why shouldn&#8217;t they, really?)<br \/>\nI guess my point is that getting the right domain name upfront will save you a lot of money in the long run.<br \/>\nIf you would like help finding or acquiring a domain name for your startup please drop me a line. This domain is a big upgrade, as it appears the company has been using DoYouPoken.com as its web site.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>From: <a title=\"DotWeely.com\" href=\"DotWeekly.com\" target=\"_blank\">DotWeekly.com<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Ad.ly Purchases Adly.com Domain Name<\/strong><br \/>\nAd.ly is becoming a very popular in-stream advertising platform for Twitter.com users and they just purchased what would be considered a typo of their domain name, <strong>Adly.com<\/strong> for $6,000 at Sedo.com .<\/p>\n<p>Adly.com was first registered in late 2001 and changed hands to Adly Inc. on 10-31-2009.<\/p>\n<p>This is a very wise purchase for Adly Inc. because not only could the domain name be considered a typo of it&#8217;s Ad.ly domain, but it also matches the company name exactly.<\/p>\n<p>I think Adly Inc. got a Great Deal on the new domain purchase, as Adly is a nice 4 letter brandable domain name&#8230; Just like Ad.ly decided to name their company!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been listening to a LOT of startup related podcasts.
